Empty Office Buildings

The first event after the summer season will find YES-DC addressing the Empty Office Buildings problem in the Netherlands.

More than 7 million square meters of office space are unused in the Netherlands, losing value, consuming energy while at the same time new office buildings are being constructed adding more materials and requiring more energy in the net balance.

In this event, three speakers will address this problem and in our workshop session we will try to find solutions for the future of empty office buildings. Main themes are energy aspects, technical solutions and political issues. See below the program of the evening:

19:30 – 19:50    Peter-Jan Troost (Imtech)  on the "Historical, current and future vacancy in  Dutch building stock"

19:50 – 20:00    Richard Wikaart (Imtech) on the "Division of roles in the Dutch real estate market"

20:00 – 20:40    Maurits van Schaik (CRI) on the "Cases of vacancy, e.g. the office building Ten Thirty"

20:55 – 21:00    Peter-Jan Troost (Imtech) on the "Kick-off discussion, vision Imtech"

21:00 – 21:45    All      Discussion on the topic “What role can sustainability play in relation to recovering from the vacancy in the Dutch building stock?”

Instead of the standard lecture halls, YES-DC arranged that this event will take place at the empty office building Ten Thirty (Burgemeester Rijnderslaan 10-30, Amstelveen). This will add an extra note to the experience that we will receive on this event. Click the link for instructions on how to reach the location.

Looking forward to seeing you at this event. In the meantime have a look at "empty offices without value
