MPP3 POWER PLANT AND BOAT RIDE, 30SEPT 2015

Excursion to the high efficiency 1.1 GW E.ON coal fired power plant on the Maasvlakte near Rotterdam, followed by a boat ride through the Europort. A full day of activities and interesting information gained by first hand!

E.ON’s MPP3 is a 1100 MW ultracritical coal fired power plant with an efficiency of 47% and the ability to ramp production up and down by 50 MW/min, making it one of the world’s most sophisticated power plants! The site also potentially will be home to one of the first serious CCS projects in Europe! Moreover, the MPP3 site is known for the synergies with the surrounding industries! Don’t miss the chance for a unique experience! A description of the MPP3 can be found in the video below:

After finishing the tour of the MPP3 power plant, we will take a boat ride through the Rotterdam harbor area. You can see Rotterdam’s impressive skyline with its imposing buildings glide by, and then get a unique view of the harbours shipyards, docks and the hypermodern transshipping of thousands of containers.

The program will start with coffee and safety instructions at 10:00 at the power plant. We will finish at 17:00 with some drinks.
